Makeably is a new way for people with creative ideas to collaborate with makers to create new things. As it’s become easier to buy things from anywhere in the world, It’s become even harder to find that exact thing you want, that perfect gift, something truly unique and, more importantly, specific to you. We founded Makeably because we believe in making it easy for you to turn your thoughtful and original ideas into reality, with a little help from our hand-picked community of makers. Here’s how to get started:
1.
Browse through each of our categories of projects and look for a custom project template that interests you. Each project template tells you:
- What you’ll get at the end of the custom making process
- How the custom making process works, and what makers need from buyers to make the project successful
- An estimated price range and timeframe to completion
2.
Once you’ve found a custom project option that you’re interested in, click the big blue button “Discuss this project!!”
You’ll now be asked to fill out a project proposal to send to the maker. Don’t worry, this is just a discussion; you’re not obligated to commit to anything or pay anything yet. Describe what you’d like to make, including photos and text about what inspires you, your due dates and more.
3.
When a maker sees your proposal, he or she will send a message back to you, answering your questions, providing references, or discussing price and timeline. You can message with the maker until you’ve agreed that you want to start this project. When the maker is happy with the terms, they will click to agree to take on the project.
Once the maker accepts your project, it’s time for you to agree to start the project and pay.
4.
Once the maker has agreed to take on the project, according to the terms that you’ve agreed to, you’ll receive an email notification with a link for you to return to Makeably and pay. You’ll see a big green button asking you to agree to begin the project and pay with a variety of credit or debit cards, as well as PayPal. You pay 100% of the agreed-to price at this time.
5.
At any time, you can log in and view your Buyer Workstation to check the status of your projects, to send messages to the maker, and to read messages that the maker may have sent to you. If the maker needs to send you any images or files for review, they will be able to do so here. You will receive an email notification anytime that the maker has sent you a message about the project.
